The very interesting monuments teach us a lot about Paros’ history. Here are the most important of them.
Ekatontapyliani (Katopyliani)
The church dedicated to Virgin Mary is one of the most important monuments of the early Christian ages you can find in Greece. It’s located in the NE part of the capital of Paros, Paroikia close to the port. In the church yard there is also the Byzantine Museum. The greatest religious day for Paros is the 15th of August, a day dedicated to Assumption, when a great folk festival takes place.
The Archaeological Museum
In The Archaeological Museum in Paroikia are exhibited, among others, the marble statue of the “fat lady” expressing the fertility, the statue of Victory (5th century B.C.), the statue of the mythological monster Gorgo, (6th century B.C.) and the statue of Goddess Venous from Delion.
The Folklore Museum
In the Folklore Museum in Naousa there is a big collection of traditional wearing from different parts of Greece.
